So, back in Septemberish, I was talking with my friend Kim. We were talking about going to Mexico. Then we decided to spend the money on the kids. John and I have been dying, absolutely dying to surprise the kids with a trip to Disneyland. After our last trip, we told them no more Disney until after our Disney world trip in 2 years. That will be a huge expense for a family of 11.
I called up my mom to make sure they could go and help with the kids. But we didn't tell the kids Grandma and Grandpa were going to be there. We can't go to Disneyland without a grandma and grandpa. Then after some debating and some traveling with the babies, we decided to ditch them. I know, I know. Judge away. But after you have spent 2 mins. with them, you wouldn't blame me. ha ha So Aunt Michelle agreed to take them.
We had a big ice cream party with Kims family to announce a big trip for both families But we told them we were going to St. George. They were so excited to go. Now fast forward . . . 2 weeks before, Kim had some medical issues come up so they backed out. Our kids were so bummed. They didn't want to spend all their spring break with just family . . . again.
It was so hard to keep the secret and really, we didn't do a very good job. We blew it a few times. Such as me complaining about my hair while I walk around disneyland! Oops. It was hard to get them to pack the right stuff. It was really hard. Then when you did slip, you had to have a good lie to cover it up. Turns out I am a really, super bad liar.
Here is the video of when we told the kids. We told them that we were going to go climb some mountains in St. George. We got to St. George, met Uncle Bean at the In and Out burger for lunch.
They were not happy campers to get back in the car to keep driving. It was earlier than we expected to tell them, we were going to wait until they were wondering where the mountains were and we were going to ask if they wanted to do Splash, Space, or matterhorn first. But after we got back in the car and they were whining, we spilled the beans. Here is the video. Just click on the link.
Then we got to the hotel and made all the kids wait to go up together. I am still kicking myself for not recording it. But we opened the door and my dad was in a back bedroom talking in some weird accent through a fan. "What chu doin'?" The kids were freaking out. I was even wondering, "what the heck?" It sounded like he was behind the couch. Here are some photos I took.
Ok, well, the kids are tearing down the house, so I guess I will get a few photos a little later. Let me know what you thought of the video. :)
